Dentist

Dr Phillip Keenan

I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of London, UK, in 1992, and embarked on a journey in dentistry that has been both fulfilling and enriching. Following graduation, I remained at the London Hospital to complete a short residency in Prosthetic Dentistry before transitioning into General Practice at a bustling surgery South of London. Simultaneously, I pursued a Masters in Prosthetic Dentistry at Guys Hospital, where I proudly graduated with distinction in 1999. My commitment to continuous learning led me to achieve membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2005.

In 2006 I made the move to Perth with my wife and young family, where I initially took on a role at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia teaching undergraduates the basics of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry. I returned to private practice with the Cottesloe team three years later but despite this move, I have maintained close ties with Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital, where I dedicate one day per week to providing complex dental rehabilitation for oral cancer patients.

What I find truly rewarding about general practice is the opportunity to build genuine connections with patients while addressing a wide range of dental needs. Whether it’s routine dental care, complex reconstructions, cosmetic enhancements, or intricate denture work, each case brings its own set of challenges and triumphs.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy staying active and engaged with life. Weekends often find me on the golf course, pursuing my passion for singing, cycling through scenic routes, or embarking on hiking adventures. These activities not only rejuvenate me but also serve as conversation starters with patients, fostering a deeper sense of connection. If ever you’re keen to chat about hobbies or anything else, I’m all ears!
